Penile cancer, one of the rarest oncological diseases, requires treatment to begin as soon as possible. Penile cancer is more commonly observed in men with an uncircumcised foreskin.
In the early stages of the disease, penile cancer may manifest as changes in small areas of skin, followed by an increase in size and hardening. These areas may be painful. Penile cancer in the context of phimosis can develop without pronounced clinical manifestations, as it occurs under the foreskin. The most common manifestation of cancer in this case is abundant discharge with a characteristic odor.

Penile Cancer Treatment
Penile cancer treatment includes:
- Polychemotherapy. For small non-invasive forms of cancer or "carcinoma in situ" on the skin surface, lower doses of chemotherapy can be used. Systemic chemotherapy is administered directly into the bloodstream to reach cancer cells throughout the body. Chemotherapy for penile cancer is usually given through an intravenous (IV) tube inserted into a vein with a needle, or orally. Chemotherapy is often recommended after surgery for penile cancer when surgical removal of pelvic lymph nodes has revealed cancer in more than one node. Chemotherapy may also be prescribed before surgery if the doctor is concerned that the tumour in the penis may be too large to be completely removed surgically, or that cancer has spread to regional lymph nodes and that surgical removal of the lymph nodes may be complicated.
- Radiation therapy.Radiation, both in brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy, preserves function and provides long-term cancer control in individual patients. Preservation of the penis is possible in more than half to three-quarters of those treated this way. This method is used for tumours smaller than 4 cm with invasion less than 1 cm. The method is particularly effective for carcinoma in situ or for T1 and T2 lesions measuring 3 cm or less.
- Surgical intervention (if necessary) - surgery on the penis consists of removing the primary cancer focus within healthy tissue along with the removal of inguinal and pelvic lymph nodes (Duke's operation). Depending on the stage of the disease, the surgery performed will aim to preserve the organ (organ-sparing) or its removal (emasculation).

Diagnosis of Penile Cancer
The diagnosis of penile cancer is definitively established based on biopsy results.
Diagnosis of cancer at Top Ichilov Medical Center is conducted promptly, allowing for the earliest possible treatment to minimize the consequences of this disease and preserve the penis as a functioning organ. Patients are required to undergo a detailed examination and provide a complete blood count, blood tests for tumor markers and sexually transmitted diseases, condyloma, and undergo X-ray, CT, MRI, and lymphangiography.
At Top Ichilov Clinic, surgeries on the penis are performed by a comprehensive team of doctors, including oncologists, urologists, radiologists, sexologists, and plastic surgeons.
