Professor Aaron SulkesHead of the Oncology Center
Our clinic's specialists conduct genetic diagnostics for breast cancer, allowing the identification of predisposition not only to breast and ovarian cancer but also to stomach, pancreatic, bladder, melanoma, and other tumours.
It has been scientifically established that 5 to 18% of breast cancer cases are hereditary. Therefore, tests for the presence or development of breast cancer should be conducted on the close relatives of patients with cancer.
In genetic diagnostics for cancer, a venous blood sample is taken to check for the presence of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which lead to the development of breast and ovarian cancer.
Detection of the BRCA1-2 gene also indicates an increased risk of developing stomach, pancreatic, bladder, endometrial cancer, and melanoma.
In our genetic center, the results of genetic diagnostics are analyzed by teams of highly qualified doctors, including geneticists, oncologists, surgeons, and others.
