Hallux Valgus is a foot deformity characterized by the inward deviation of the big toe towards the other toes. The first metatarsophalangeal joint protrudes significantly. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as a "bunion."
Causes
Typically, the occurrence of Hallux Valgus is a disruption of the joint's biomechanics. This can happen due to factors such as:
- Transverse flatfoot – the motor function of the metatarsophalangeal joint is disrupted
- Weakness of the foot's ligamentous apparatus
- Congenital deformity.
However, it most often occurs due to wearing uncomfortable narrow shoes. Thus, the constant pressure of the shoe on the big toe leads to the deformation of its joint. In some cases, shoes only exacerbate the predisposition to this bone posture disorder of the foot.
Diagnosis of Hallux Valgus in Israel
