Treatment of Bone-Muscle Injuries in Israel

Bone-muscle injuries in children include all types of trauma, most of which are related to active play and sports activities. Below are examples of children's bone-muscle injuries that are treated in Israel.

  • Fractures are painful injuries in which the integrity of the bone is compromised (they can be closed or open). Fractures are treated surgically or by applying a stabilizing splint.
  • Joint dislocation usually occurs with the finger, knee, ankle, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, or jaw. This is a change in the position of the bones forming the joint, which can happen suddenly with the joint returning to its original position on its own, or there may be a need for medical assistance. Dislocation is accompanied by swelling in the affected area, pain, a change in the shape of the limb, and possible numbness. The first aid provided by doctors is to ensure rest for the injured limb and apply cold. After that, depending on the degree of injury, treatment is prescribed.
  • Ligament sprain is a severe injury (tear) of the connective tissue around the joint, which performs a supportive and guiding function. Most often, sprains in children occur with the knee or ankle. At the moment of ligament rupture, a characteristic crack and sharp pain can be heard. Hemorrhage occurs, and swelling forms. In the treatment of ligaments, special attention is paid to ensuring rest for the injured limb to allow the tissues to heal and avoid further, even more severe sprains.
  • Muscle cramps are involuntary, unexpected contractions of muscles that can occur from overexertion and prolonged staying in one position, due to dehydration, a lack of trace elements in the body, or circulation disorders. Rest for the limb, massage, and cold application are required.
  • Delayed muscle pain occurs after exercise, especially if there was a break before engaging in sports. The most painful is the simultaneous contraction and stretching of the muscles.

All types of injuries affect the muscles adjacent to the site of injury. They experience specific tension. Therefore, the muscles also require treatment. Additionally, throughout the entire treatment process, the muscles remain in a passive, inactive state, thus needing physical rehabilitation.
