A special tongue stimulator restores healthy and safe sleep
Sleep apnea is one of the quite common problems in today's world, affecting more than 15% of the global population. Besides being a rather dangerous phenomenon, it leads to constant drowsiness and fatigue, various disturbances in the nervous system, headaches, sexual dysfunction, and more. Despite this, many people endure the condition for years, putting themselves and their loved ones at risk, suffering from discomfort and unpleasant sensations.
There are many causes of sleep apnea, one of the most common being the tongue falling back into the throat. Until now, there has not been a truly effective method for treating this pathology.
, which fixes the position of the tongue using electrical impulses sent to the muscle at the base of the tongue. This prevents it from falling back, allowing for healthy and peaceful sleep. The stimulator is implanted just below the collarbone. A special sensor detects the cessation of breathing and the device is activated.
Today, this innovative technique has been implemented at the Top Ihilov clinic, with all procedures performed so far for the implantation of the stimulator having been 100% successful.
The operation is conducted under the guidance of renowned otolaryngologist Professor Gideon Bahar.
