Gastric Banding as a Method of Weight Loss
This method involves placing a silicone ring on the upper part of the stomach, which gives the stomach the shape of an hourglass and sharply reduces the volume of food consumed. Food entering the upper part of the stomach stretches its walls and creates a feeling of fullness. The operation is performed laparoscopically under general anesthesia and lasts from 30 to 60 minutes.

In Israel, a radically new, gentle technique for reducing stomach volume has been developed. Its essence is that access to the stomach is achieved not through the abdominal cavity, but through the mouth. Using a four-channel gastroscope, the tissues of the stomach are secured with special clips, resulting in folds that significantly reduce the volume of the stomach.
