Arthroscopy is a modern minimally invasive method for examining and treating joints using mechanical and optical devices. A distinctive feature of arthroscopy is its low trauma. During the surgery, the patient undergoes micro-incisions through which the arthroscope and surgical instruments are introduced. There is no need for a full opening of the joints during arthroscopy. This method is used for diagnosing joint diseases as well as for therapeutic purposes.

Foreign patients who come to the Top Ihilov clinic have the opportunity to undergo accurate diagnostics using modern equipment, receive a consultation from an orthopedic doctor, and undergo treatment in Israel. Arthroscopy is performed according to global standards by highly qualified medical staff.

Joint Replacement and Arthroscopy: Top Ihilov Restores Mobility, Relieves Pain

Joint replacement is a surgery to replace elements of the musculoskeletal system. The surgery is performed through small incisions using an endoscope, a special tube a few millimeters in diameter. An arthroscope is a type of endoscope. Indications for the surgery may include fractures, false joints, deforming arthrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, and other diseases. Arthroscopy in Israel is developing every day, aided by high-tech equipment and the extensive experience of Israeli doctors.

To minimize the likelihood of repeat surgeries, confirm the correctness of the prosthesis installation, restore the biomechanical axis of the limb, and achieve balance in the joint ligaments, the orthopedic doctors at Top Ihilov use a high-precision X-ray navigation system called O-ARM.

The day after the surgery, the patient, under the guidance of experienced rehabilitation doctors and physiotherapists, begins to load the joint, and on the 5th-6th day after the surgery, they can be discharged.

When selecting joint prostheses, medical indications, physiological characteristics, the degree of physical activity of the patient, their weight, and age are taken into account.

The Key to Successful Surgery – Accurate Preliminary Diagnosis

First Day – Consultation

Almost immediately after arriving at the clinic, the patient receives a preliminary consultation from a leading Israeli orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of one of the joints. The specialist examines the patient, studies the X-ray images, if the patient brought them along, selects the type of artificial joint, and gives directions for further preliminary diagnostics.

Second Day – Diagnostics

On the second day, the patient undergoes all basic diagnostic procedures. If the doctor does not deem it necessary to prescribe additional procedures, the examination stage will be completed at this point. Usually, the following procedures are performed:

  • Comprehensive blood tests (general, biochemistry)
  • Urine analysis
  • X-ray of the joint
  • In some cases, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is necessary. The examination is performed using the latest devices with the highest resolution available today - 3 Tesla.
  • If there is a rheumatological background, an analysis of joint fluid is performed.

Third Day – Treatment Plan

The treatment plan is developed jointly by the doctors who form an expert group created individually for each patient. The doctors carefully study the test results and develop a treatment and subsequent rehabilitation plan, and then closely monitor the treatment results and adjust it if necessary.

  • Arthrosis
  • Coxarthrosis of the hip joint
  • Osteoarthritis of the knee joints
  • Hallux valgus
