Alopecia varies by causes of hair loss and clinical presentation

Androgenetic alopecia. This is the most common form, affecting over 95% of patients. Androgenetic alopecia is a hereditary, genetically transmitted condition. It typically begins to manifest at around 30 years of age. This type of pathology is the most difficult to treat, as hair follicles die under the influence of the active form of the male hormone testosterone. Initially, the hair on the head (in a specific area) thins, stops growing, and is replaced by fine vellus hair. Over the years, these also disappear as the follicular openings become clogged with connective tissue, leading to bald patches. Androgenetic alopecia requires surgical treatment.

Diffuse alopecia. This is characterized by uniform hair loss across the entire scalp. Hair becomes sparse, and the scalp is visible through it. Often, external factors such as stress, infectious pathologies, hormonal imbalances, and the use of antibiotics and antidepressants are the causes of diffuse (symptomatic) alopecia. If the damage is detected early and there is no follicular damage, it is sufficient to shield the patient from irritating circumstances, and hair will begin to grow back. To expedite the restoration of hair coverage, patients are prescribed hair growth stimulants.

Focal alopecia. The exact causes of this condition are not defined. It is characterized by bald patches on small areas of the scalp. These areas may spontaneously regrow hair, but hair loss can occur again after some time. The cause of the disease may be related to immune system disorders and heredity. Treatment is prescribed based on the examination of the body, and corticosteroids may sometimes be included in the treatment course.

Cicatricial alopecia. Hair loss occurs in areas that have been traumatized or infected. Treatment is surgical.

Hair Loss Treatment at Top Ichilov Clinic

BaldnessIf androgenetic alopecia is identified or conservative methods are not sufficiently effective, hair transplantation is indicated for patients. At Top Ichilov Clinic, highly qualified doctors perform surgical interventions that are completely painless and safe.

In most cases, patients undergo seamless follicular hair transplantation. Healthy hair follicles from healthy areas are transplanted to the affected areas. In the new location, the hair begins to grow back healthy and natural. The surgical intervention is performed using special equipment that allows for the extraction of one follicle at a time from the donor area and implantation into the hairless area. No complications or side effects are observed after the operation. Currently, surgical treatment of alopecia is the most productive.

Diagnosis of Alopecia at Our Clinic

Modern equipment is used for the diagnosis of alopecia at our clinic. The list of diagnostic procedures includes:

  • Consultation and examination by a trichologist;
  • Microvideo diagnostics. Examination of follicles and hair areas using computer technology;
  • Mineralogram. This examination involves a spectral analysis of the hair. If a mineral imbalance is observed, the patient is prescribed a balanced complex of mineral-containing preparations.

To identify accompanying diseases, the patient undergoes a comprehensive examination of the body: MRI, CT, ultrasound, and laboratory blood tests. Women are additionally examined by a gynecologist, and men by a urologist.
