New Opportunities in Assessing Cancer Therapy Effectiveness

Varian has released a new version of software that helps treat cancer as effectively and safely as possible by evaluating the impact of the therapy being administered.
The Velocity software processes images obtained from a tomograph. Its new version, Velocity 4.0, has several additional advantages that help doctors gain a more accurate picture of the disease and the effectiveness of the oncology treatment. With the Rapidsphere module, Velocity 4.0 can analyze the necessary radiation dose required for a specific patient during SIRT (Selective Internal Radiation Therapy) sessions.
Varian is a company specializing in the manufacture of high-tech tools for the medical industry. One of its products, which allows doctors to conduct more effective treatments, is software for tomographs. Velocity 4.0 (the new version of Varian's software) helps to more accurately assess the response of the oncological pathology to the administered radiation therapy, as well as determine the risks of radiation exposure to healthy tissues in each specific case.

The new Rapidsphere module provides a detailed picture of the effectiveness of the conducted SIRT therapy, analyzes data from diagnostic studies from various systems and devices, thereby providing complete and accurate information that will help the doctor assess the effectiveness of the chosen therapy. In addition, Rapidsphere calculates what radiation dose is safe for the patient.
The innovation has already been highly valued and received FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approval for use in medical institutions.
Advantages of the new Velocity 4.0 version:
- Updated functionality. Velocity Tumor & Dose Tracking monitors changes in the characteristics of the neoplasm, helping to understand how well the tumor responds to radiation therapy. It also assesses the total radiation dose received by the patient during SIRT therapy and other treatment methods.
- Multimodal imaging. Velocity M3i allows simultaneous display of results from different studies, such as CT, ultrasound, MRI, PET-CT, and others. This enables the doctor to form a more accurate overall picture of the oncological pathology.
- Automatic synchronization. The Velocity Aria Sync program automatically synchronizes selected objects from the Eclipse and Aria information systems, allowing them to be saved in the Velocity program.
