Types of ENT Tumours and Their Treatment Methods at Top Ihilov Clinic

Treatment of ENT tumours is conducted depending on the type of pathology, stage of disease development, and individual characteristics of the patient. Typically, our clinic receives patients with tumour diseases such as nasopharyngeal cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, and laryngeal cancer.

Benign and Malignant Tumours of the Paranasal Sinuses and Nose:

  • Exophytic papillomas are squamous cell papillomatous tumours, benign in nature, requiring repeated removal;
  • Inverted papillomas are localized malignant tumours. Surgical removal requires simultaneous excision of regional affected tissues;
  • Squamous cell carcinoma is a common disease, representing a malignant lesion of the nose and sinuses. Treatment involves the removal of the neoplasm followed by radiation therapy.

Clinically, nasal cancer manifests with bloody nasal discharge, nasal congestion, facial sensory disturbances, and swelling.

Nasopharyngeal Cancer

Clinically, nasopharyngeal cancer is accompanied by nasal and Eustachian tube congestion, purulent bloody nasal discharge, bleeding (nasal), cervical lymphadenopathy, and facial nerve paralysis. If primary cancer is present, radiation therapy is prescribed; in cases of resistant areas to radiation and metastasis to cervical lymph nodes, surgical intervention is indicated, followed by radiation therapy.

Oropharyngeal Cancer

The most common diseases are tonsil cancer and squamous cell carcinomas of the tonsils. Previously, the disease was more common in men, which specialists attribute to alcohol consumption and smoking; in recent years, the disease has begun to affect women as well, for the same reasons. The main complaints of patients are sore throat and difficulty swallowing. Treatment methods include surgery and radiation therapy.

Laryngeal Cancer

Malignant neoplasms. The most common manifestation of laryngeal cancer is squamous cell carcinoma. It occurs more frequently in men (due to alcohol consumption and smoking), but in recent years it has also been seen in women.

Clinically, it manifests with various symptoms depending on localization: hoarseness, sore throat, difficulty swallowing food. The disease may be accompanied by metastases to cervical lymph nodes.

One variant of squamous cell carcinoma is verrucous carcinoma. This pathology affects the vocal cords. In the early stages of the disease, treatment involves radiation therapy; in cases of significant involvement, surgical treatment with excision of the focus is performed, followed by preventive radiation therapy.

At the Top Ihilov Medical Center, a multi-level examination of patients with tumours in the ENT organs is conducted, and adequate and effective treatment is prescribed. During surgical interventions, plastic procedures are performed to restore facial aesthetics.
