Adrenal Cortex Cancer: Treatment in Israel at Top Ihilov

Adrenal Cortex CancerAdrenal cortex cancer is a tumour that occupies a very insignificant place in the overall structure of oncological diseases. However, this does not mean that medically advanced countries do not address the problem of effective therapy for this pathology.

Treatment of adrenal cortex cancer depends on the stage of disease progression and the presence of distant metastases.

  • Surgical treatment. Adrenalectomy (removal of the adrenal gland) is prescribed to operable patients in 75% of cases. If cancer is diagnosed at an early stage (which, unfortunately, happens very rarely), surgeons can remove only the tumour while preserving both the adrenal gland and the kidney. In some cases, surgeons also remove lymph nodes that may be affected by metastases. Often, surgical intervention is indicated even in cases of metastasis. At Top Ihilov Clinic, surgeons can perform adrenalectomy using robotic technology, which significantly increases the precision of the procedures and reduces the risk of complications.
  • Radiation therapy. It is not a standalone treatment method and is performed in conjunction with surgery to destroy cancer cells in the lymph nodes. At Top Ihilov Medical Center, both radiotherapy and radiosurgery using the innovative CyberKnife device are practiced.
  • Chemotherapy. It is prescribed either as a standalone treatment (if the tumour is inoperable) or in combination with other types of treatment. The doctors at Top Ihilov Clinic develop an individual treatment regimen with highly effective drugs for each patient. Clinical trials conducted in Israel have proven that prolonged use of the aforementioned drugs significantly reduces the risk of tumour recurrence.

Diagnosis of Adrenal Cortex Cancer in Israel

First Day

On the day of arrival, the patient undergoes a preliminary consultation with a leading oncologist. The doctor conducts a primary examination, carefully studies the medical history, and if the patient has brought examination results, the doctor analyzes them closely and provides directions for further diagnostics.

Second Day

At Top Ihilov Clinic, a basic diagnostic program is used for patients with adrenal cortex cancer, consisting of the following tests and procedures:

  • Blood tests with specific examinations (depending on the endocrine symptoms of the disease, the patient is prescribed a 24-hour cortisol level test, a blood test with a salt load, a 12-hour dexamethasone test, etc.);
  • MRI;
  • CT;
  • Tumour biopsy;
  • PET CT;
  • Angiography and/or phlebography.

To accurately determine the size and localization of the tumour, as well as the stage of the disease, the doctor may prescribe additional types of examinations.

Third Day

On the third day, an expert group of leading oncologists, nephrologists, and specialists in radiation and chemotherapy develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Experts continuously monitor the patient's condition and adjust the treatment plan if necessary.

Modern Diagnostic Procedures

  • Biopsy
  • Computed Tomography
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Diagnosis - PET CT
