For over two years, genetic specialists at Top Ihilov Clinic have been conducting an individual oncogenetic test, InVitae, which allows for a highly accurate determination of whether a cancerous disease is genetic and whether the patient should be concerned about its manifestation. The test consists of a complete genetic analysis of blood taken from the patient's vein or that of a close relative.
The test studies combinations of 211 genes, tracking changes responsible for the emergence of 264 diseases, of which 50 are various types of cancer, 53 types of neurological diseases, 80 types of cardiovascular diseases, and additionally, the test identifies whether a person is a carrier of an additional 101 types of oncological, neurological, cardiovascular, and pediatric pathologies. 70 genes studied in the InVitae test, including the BRCA1/2 genes, are responsible for the development of breast cancer; thus, the test is one of the most effective means of early diagnosis of this disease. Moreover, the test is very effective in detecting:
- prostate cancer
- melanoma
- glioblastoma
- stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, and gastrointestinal tract tumours
- intestinal cancer
- lung cancer
- lymphoma
- leukemia
- cancer of the urogenital system
- oncogynecological diseases
- head and neck tumours
- metastases from an unknown source
The test is intended for cancer patients and for those with a family history of oncological diseases. One of the outcomes of the testing is the creation of an international genetic database, the study of which will allow for the future development of means to prevent many dangerous diseases.
