UDS in Israel: Take the First Step Towards Overcoming Urination Problems

Urinary incontinence and other urination problems, as well as numerous infectious diseases of the urinary system, are among the most common issues in women's health today. How can we combat this?

Before answering this question, let's consider how to diagnose all these diseases as accurately and quickly as possible, as accurate and timely diagnosis is one of the main conditions for effective treatment.

For such cases, the Top Ihilov clinic offers patients an examination called UDS or urodynamic study. Undergo diagnostics where you can be completely confident in the accuracy of the results and where the minor discomfort associated with the procedure will be minimized. At Top Ihilov, UDS is conducted under the guidance of experienced and tactful urogynecologists, specialists of international renown, such as Dr. Dov Laxman and Dr. Ronen Gold.

Advantages of UDS

Often, in cases of urination problems, tests such as ultrasound, cystoscopy, CT, and MRI are performed, but all of them are aimed at detecting changes in the structure or condition of the organs, meaning they are excellent for detecting stones, injuries, and tumours. However, urinary incontinence and many other problems are related to the functioning of the urinary system, the condition of the muscles, and these procedures cannot track all of that.

UDS checks precisely these aspects, and the study includes a whole range of different tests that assess the functioning of the bladder and urinary tract.

How is UDS Conducted?

The examination is usually conducted after the bladder has been emptied.

After taking an antibiotic (to prevent infection) and administering local anesthesia, doctors insert special catheters with sensors into the bladder and intestines and fill the bladder with liquid, varying the filling speed and observing how the organ reacts to different body positions, coughing, and other stimuli, while simultaneously measuring pressure and other indicators:

  • the speed at which the bladder empties
  • the amount of fluid remaining in it
  • the presence of factors that hinder urination
  • the sensations of the patient herself

The testing lasts only 20 minutes, and at the end of the study, the patient can freely engage in any usual activities.

Based on the results of the UDS, a panel consisting of leading doctors at the clinic creates a detailed plan for individual treatment and a list of recommendations.
