The thinnest part of the eyeball is the retina. It is complexly structured, allowing it not only to perceive but also to transform light impulses. The retina is responsible for connecting the visual parts of the human brain and the complex system of the eye, transmitting and receiving information. Retinal detachment is a condition that requires surgical intervention for complete recovery. The condition manifests as the separation of the vascular part of the eye from the retina.
Causes
Retinal detachment can result from myopia or trauma. If left untreated, it can lead to blindness.

Prevention
The best preventive measure against retinal detachment is preventive peripheral laser photocoagulation. By performing this procedure, the chances of recurrence can be reduced to zero.
