Vision Correction in Israel
Vision correction can occur using three different technologies. After diagnosis, the ophthalmologist prescribes one of three laser correction techniques:
- the “Lasik” technology; involves changing the properties of the cornea by forming a thin flap 100 microns thick, which allows access to the cornea for laser correction. This method is high-speed and safe, although it is performed on a moving eyeball. The result can be felt on the day of the operation
- the “Optilasik” technology; an improved version of “Lasik” that preserves the original shape of the cornea while maintaining its aspheric structure
- the “Prk” technology; the main difference of this technology is the absence of a flap; part of the surface of the eye's membrane is mechanically freed from the epithelial layer, allowing access to the cornea; after this, the procedure proceeds as with “Lasik,” and the cornea is equipped with the necessary properties; then, the surface of the eyeball's cornea is tightly covered with a special protective lens, which is removed as healing occurs; this method can be used for vision correction in both eyes on the same day. The result can be fully observed as healing progresses, approximately within a month.
Prevention
Preventive measures after correction include avoiding eye strain, stress, proper nutrition, increased vitamin intake, and healthy sleep. Usually, after laser vision correction, no deterioration is observed.
