Non-surgical Treatment of Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are benign hormonal tumors that require immediate treatment. In Israel, the most gentle method of uterine fibroid removal is widely practiced — uterine artery embolization (UAE).
The gynecologists at our clinic have extensive experience in the removal of uterine fibroids using gentle, minimally invasive, and non-traumatic methods. Uterine artery embolization is a widely practiced method in gynecological surgery for the removal of uterine fibroids.
The surgery for uterine fibroid removal is painless and performed under local anesthesia. The procedure is conducted by an endovascular surgeon under X-ray control. During the operation, a puncture is made in the groin area. A catheter is inserted into the uterine artery through the blood vessels, through which tiny polymer beads (emboli) are introduced into the bloodstream, blocking the blood vessels of the tumor. As a result of the cessation of blood supply, the fibroid begins to shrink, decrease in size, and eventually dies.
Uterine fibroid removal through uterine artery embolization allows a woman to fully preserve her fertility and reproductive function.
