Methods of Treating Pediatric Strabismus at Sourasky (Ichilov)

Treatment of strabismus in Israel is carried out using both conservative and surgical methods. For young patients, glasses are prescribed, and vision correction may be performed by isolating the healthy eye from participating in vision (this method strengthens the muscles of the deviating eye); if conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical correction is performed.

Treatment for adults follows the same principles: initially conservative treatment, and only then - surgery.

  • early diagnosis of amblyopia;
  • monitoring of premature infants;

The age of patients in the department ranges from a few weeks to 16 years, and even newborns can become patients of the department and be treated for their condition.

What is Strabismus?

Pediatric StrabismusStrabismus is a disorder of the synchronization and parallelism of the visual axes of the eyes; in strabismus, the axes of both eyes do not intersect at a fixed point. Strabismus can be acquired or congenital, and anomalies can affect both adults and children.

Pediatric strabismus can lead to:

  • changes in visual fields;
  • problems with depth perception;
  • amblyopia;
  • psychological discomfort and decreased quality of life.
  • Treatment of strabismus in Israel will free your child from the condition. Contact Sourasky (Ichilov) and give your child a happy, healthy childhood!
