Revolutionary Method for Treating Intervertebral Disc Herniation

Endoscopic procedures are widely practiced in Israeli medicine, which are minimally invasive, do not cause complications, and do not require a long rehabilitation period.

In the neurosurgery and orthopedics departments of Top Ihilov Clinic, a new method of minimally invasive neurosurgical endoscopic correction of degenerative spinal diseases is applied. This method for treating intervertebral disc herniation has been implemented and is successfully used by specialists at Top Ihilov Clinic.
Advantages of this method:

  • Operation time 60-90 minutes;
  • Discharge from the department – the next day after the operation;
  • Success rate (complete relief from pain for at least 10 years) up to 95%;
  • Absence of postoperative complications;
  • No need for open surgery; incision – only 1.5 cm;
  • Return to active activity the next day without a rehabilitation period.

During the operation on the cervical spine, access is achieved from the front, while for operations on the thoracic or lumbar spine, access is achieved from the back.

An incision of 1.5 cm is made, an endoscope is introduced, and under the control of the endoscope, osteophytes are cut, the disc herniation is removed, the intact part of the disc is returned to its place (without staples and plates), the nerve is freed from compression, and subsequently, the damaged myelin sheath of the nerves is restored.

Currently, operations are performed only in two clinics in the world. Besides our center, this technique is used in Pittsburgh (USA).

Prices for Treating Intervertebral Disc Herniation

The cost of endoscopic treatment for intervertebral disc herniation may vary depending on the nature and degree of degenerative disorder. Nevertheless, the cost of endoscopic treatment in Israeli clinics is significantly lower than in hospitals in European countries. Savings can reach 30% or more. This affordability of treatment prices is related to partial government funding of medical institutions in Israel.
