Course of Stomach Reduction Surgery in Israel

At Ichilov clinic, several methods of stomach reduction surgery will be available to the patient:

  1. Gastric banding. The volume of the stomach is reduced by placing a band (a durable silicone ring). This surgery allows food to enter the lower part of the patient's stomach more slowly. The feeling of fullness occurs faster. This type of stomach reduction surgery shows high effectiveness – after it, patients lose more than half of their weight. It lasts 1-2 hours;
  2. Gastric bypass. This involves excluding the duodenum from the digestive process. Using titanium staples, the surgeon reduces the stomach volume to 20-50 ml. The small intestine is attached to the stomach. After the surgery, the patient's weight decreases by 70-80%;
  3. Laparoscopic obesity treatment. This involves minimally invasive surgical intervention. The surgeon makes small incisions and introduces a camera into the abdominal cavity. Then the stomach is divided into two sections, with a small part having a volume of 50 ml. The duration of the surgery is 2-4 hours;
  4. Sleeve gastrectomy. The surgeon removes a portion of the stomach, and what remains is shaped into a sleeve. This reduces the volume of food intake. The peculiarity of this surgery is that the absorption of nutrients from food is not disrupted, as the surgery only affects the amount that can fit in the stomach;
  5. POSE surgery. A non-invasive technique. The surgeon accesses the patient's stomach through the esophagus using a special flexible endoscope. Then he forms folds in the bottom of the stomach and secures them with special staples. The surgery takes only 45 minutes.
